Education and Academic Assignments:

I obtained Bachelors' degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Allahabad in 1999 and Masters' degree in Computer Science (with First Rank and Honours) from the University of Allahabad  in 2001. I passed the UGC-NET examination and obtained the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Computer Application during my Masters' studies. I availed the fellowship by joining the J. K. Institute of Applied Physics and Technology of the University of Allahabad in July 2002. I obtained the D. Phil. degree in Science from the University of Allahabad in March 2010. The area of my Doctoral research work was Collective Intelligence.

I started my teaching career In July 2003 by joining Banasthali Vidyapith University, Rajasthan as Lecturer in Computer Science and served there till March 2004. In May 2004, I joined Banaras Hindu University as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. I have worked for South Asian University for 4 years from July 2011 to June 2015 on leave from BHU. Currently I am at BHU, Varanasi.

Research Interests:

Scientometrics:  My interest in Scientometrics revolves around the intersection of information retrieval and scientometrics. It is fascinating to explore how scientometrics can contribute to information retrieval research, particularly in scholarly article domain. I also take interest in computational analysis of bibliometric data for mapping research competence of institutions/ countries, identifying thematic research trends in different disciplines and development of appropriate research performance ranking systems.

Text Analytics: I work primarily on tasks like Sentiment Analysis, Information Extraction, Classification and Clustering Algorithms, Content-based Recommender Systems and Social Media Text Analysis. I have developed and coordinated a Text Analytics laboratory, which works in various text analytics tasks. I have also been organizing Text Analytics workshops since 2013 (Deatils at: www.textanalytics.in ). Mining scientific publications is another important area i am interested in.

Artificial and Collective Intelligence:  My interest in Collective Intelligence is aimed at analyzing the structural and dynamic properties of collective systems exhibiting intelligent behaviours. I have designed agent based simulations to model complex social processes and structures and used them to understand & analyze the dynamics of collective intelligence in social groups and organizations.
